Nate Berry
Nate has been playing music since he was a wee lad, developing a love for traditional Celtic and Irish music nearly 20 years ago. He sings, plays guitar and has recently taken up the fiddle.
Influences include Planxty, The Bothy Band, The Clancys, Tommy Makem, Andy Irvine, Paul Brady, Christy Moore, Fairport Convention and many others!
I often hear “…But Berry isn’t an Irish name!” The surname Berry is probably French in origin (and would likely have come from there to England after William the Conquerer in 1066). Most US Berrys immigrated to the US from England. Ireland does have some Berrys as well, and these were probably associated with English lords who took up residence there. My family (on both sides) have been in the United States since the early 1700s and their original origins are obscure, but the family tree has a lot of other Irish (and Welsh) names mixed in through marriage.
